FAQ
Wedding Photography & Cinematography
HOW DO WE RECEIVE OUR WEDDING IMAGES?
It takes an average of 6 weeks to have all of your edited wedding photos live on your private gallery link which will also have your download link for immediate delivery of printable high resolution jpgs.
WILL YOU HOLD MY WEDDING DATE?
To avoid playing favorites, unfortunately we cannot soft hold dates or tell you if you another client is interested in your date. In order for us to guarantee your date we require a 50% retainer payment along with your signed agreement. Once that is received your date is secured. We suggest booking as soon as possible to guarantee your date with us.
SHOULD WE MEET IN PERSON FIRST?
If it would make you more comfortable then yes, but it definitely isn’t a requirement for us. We have many years of experience in this industry and have found that we don’t have to be your best friend to capture those amazing shots of you. We have a fantastic way of making our clients feel at ease and comfortable in front of our camera whether we just met or have known each other for years.
ARE YOU INSURED?
Yes, we are fully licensed and insured.
WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT TERMS FOR BOOKING?
We require a 50% retainer at the time of signing your agreement. The remaining balance must be paid in full 2 weeks before the event date. We accept check, cash or Venmo.
HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHS WILL WE RECEIVE?
The number of photos you receive will vary based on how many photographers you have, how many hours of coverage you selected, the size of your bridal party, number of guests, and so forth. We typically deliver between 600 and 900 edited photographs :)
WHEN WILL MY PHOTOS AND VIDEO BE READY?
We usually turn a photo collection around in about 6 weeks or less from when we shoot the wedding (depending on the time of the year). We edit all the videos in the order they're shot in. As you can imagine, the wedding videos take a lot longer to edit than the photos. Generally, the videos deliver about 4-5 months from the wedding.
That said, our goal is always to get everything out as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality, so you could get the videos sooner, it all depends on how many weddings are in front of yours
DO WE HAVE THE RIGHTS TO THE IMAGES? CAN WE MAKE PRINTS?
Dideo Films Photography will retain the copyright to every image. Your contract licenses you to print the high resolution images for personal use. What it means is basically that once you receive your photos you can do as you wish as far as personal use: printing and sharing on social media outlets. However, you cannot sell the photos or transfer them to a third party.
DO YOU PROVIDE US WITH THE DIGITAL PHOTO FILES?
Yes, we provide you with the high res digital JPG files of your edited images.
DO YOU ADD SPECIAL EFFECTS TO OUR PHOTOGRAPHS?
At DFP we produce timeless images that are well-exposed and strictly adapted to tell the story of your day using classical and celebrated photographic techniques. We don’t use Instagram like editing methods such as filters, selective color/toning, textures or high dynamic range. We believe not using special effects when editing your imagines will maintain their timeless and classic look and will be universally appealing for a lifetime.
WHO DETERMINES THE PHOTO LOCATIONS?
We're happy to discuss location ideas together! If there's a location that is special to you, let us know about it!
WILL YOU SCOUT OUR VENUE BEFORE THE WEDDING?
We shoot all over the country oftentimes seeing a venue for the first time on the day of the wedding. As professionals, we can immediately evaluate the property for lighting, backgrounds and other features the venue has to offer on the spot.
ARE YOU A “NATURAL LIGHT” PHOTOGRAPHER?
When natural light is available we use it, however when it’s not we create our own.
CAN WE PROVIDE YOU WITH A WEDDING PHOTO LIST?
We are happy to work closely with you to make sure your family photo list is developed for traditional family portraits within reason, but we do not work from or accept a photo checklist for the remainder of the day. Working from a detailed photo check list distracts from the other numerous important things happening, and might cause us to miss that one candid shot that makes the day. If, however, there is that one shot that you see and love please do let us know and well do our best to work it in.
DO WE NEED AN ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER OR CINEMATOGRAPHER?
No matter what size your wedding is big or small, two photographers or two filmmakers are always great to have. One photographer or filmmaker can’t be in all locations at once, or see all aspects around them, so having two will deliver a wider variety of photo and video images.
WE ARE A GREAT COUPLE, BUT MY FIANCE IS NOT ONE TO POSE FOR THE CAMERA, BUT WE MAY NEED SOME HELP WITH POSING. IS YOUR WORK CANDID OR TRADITIONAL? DO WE HAVE TO POSE? WILL YOU TELL US WHAT TO DO?
We are typically 80% candid and 20% posed. We love capturing those unexpected moments that may be missed throughout the day. We do make sure to get those posed shots with your immediate family and wedding party members so you will have those for years to come. Those genuine smiles and laughs that occur throughout the day tend to be the favorites of the collection.
WHAT’S A “FIRST LOOK” AND SHOULD WE DO IT?
A “First Look” is a private moment for you two to see each other before the ceremony without hundreds of eyes watching. We take great pride in finding the perfect location for you to meet naturally and un-posed. Doing a first look also saves you time after the ceremony to enjoy your guests and your cocktail hour. The decision to have a “First Look” is entirely yours! But we do ask if you choose not to do one please consider having an extended cocktail hour so we can get your portraits and then family and wedding portraits done as well.
DO YOU DO DESTINATION WEDDINGS? DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH IN OTHER STATES AND COUNTRIES?
YES! We love destination weddings…we’ll travel anywhere. We do ask that travel, modest accommodation (two night minimum) and per diem are paid for in advance.
ARE THERE CHARGES FOR TRAVEL?
All travel within ninety minutes of our studio is included. If your location is over ninety minutes away, we ask you to arrange accommodations for your photographer(s) and/or videographers(s) the night of your wedding and possibly the night before.
MY DJ OFFERED US A FREE PHOTOGRAPHER, IS THAT OK WITH YOU?
Please be mindful of vendors suggesting you use their photographers for free. We say this because those photographers are not there to capture you and all your special moments, their priority is to get shots showcasing that vendor’s work. Typically, these free photographers tend to get in the way and be in the background of all the important shots as they are very unaware of what is taking place around them.
WHAT IS CINEMATOGRAPHY AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM VIDEOGRAPHY?
Cinematography’s main focus is to tell your story. It combines professional documentary-style with Hollywood movie influenced filmmaking to create an aesthetically pleasing, and more importantly, entertaining film to watch for years to come. Basically, we don’t make boring videos! Videography is pretty much a super long video shot by one person with no aesthetically pleasing elements or edits.
CAN I SELECT THE MUSIC FOR OUR VIDEO?
Because we know you want to share your wedding video on all your social media sites for all your family and friends to see, we can’t just pick any songs. All music must be licensed properly for it to be shared socially. Due to this, we put a lot of time into the music we select making sure it fits you and the emotions of your day. If you’d like to suggest songs to be used in your highlights video, we will need to keep a password on the video online.
WHY DON’T YOU OFFER DVDs?
The main reason we don’t offer DVDs is because we shoot only in high definition, and DVDs can’t play high definition. They are also extremely fragile and can break or be damaged very easily. Because the world is moving very fast to streaming only we give you a HD video file that is formatted to be streamed on computers and smart TVs.
CAN WE GET UNEDITED VIDEO FOOTAGE?
You can! However, we caution that the unedited video footage is hours of random clips, some with audio some without, no editing and no music added in. We do offer you the option of purchasing a longer wedding edit feature film, for additional.
